Record Review: Pattern is Movement

Pattern is Movement

All Together

[2008, Hometapes]

A great release from this little known Philadelphia duo. I picked this up from the Hometapes  booth at the Pitchfork festival, and was happily surprised [SIDE NOTE: Hometapes puts a lot of time and love into their packaging; it's some of the best I've ever seen, actually. Lovely colors, artwork, finishes... most is unconventionally packaged, but they're quite the unconventional label]. Comprised of Andrew Thiboldeaux and Chris Ward, the group make frenetic, expansive pop songs. To see my in-depth review, check out Music In Review Online, and check under "new review". While you're there, see some more of my writing (my thoughts on some upcoming releases for 2008, some reviews, etc.)

Also, I've started writing for Tiny Mix Tapes, and I'm currently awaiting (with bated breath) for my first package of advance releases to cover! More on that, soon. To anybody reading, thanks; I really appreciate it!

I haven't been to the site in awhile, but I see you are still writing with a wonderful listening ear, very clearly communicating music to words. And, no, I am not biased! Now I'm off to find the Music in Reviw online, and Tiny Mix Tapes - wish me luck! :) mom
